My ceiling light flickers or stays slightly on

My ceiling light flickers or stays slightly on

It is very common for a ceiling light or downlight to flicker or remain slightly on when you turn off the light.

The problem occurs because LED technology requires very little power to turn on, and sometimes when replacing a non-LED product with a new LED one, we may notice it flickers or stays partially on due to residual voltage.

How do we solve it? Simple, you just need to acquire a capacitor and install it. This capacitor will accumulate this residual voltage and solve the problem.

How to pair TUYA with Alexa voice control?

How to pair TUYA with Alexa voice control?

Tuya Smart offers the most complete voice-controlled smart home experience with Alexa. Control lighting and other devices in your home hands-free. Just say it, and Tuya Smart will obey.

Here is a step-by-step guide:

2. Open the app and register a new account (or log in if you have already registered).

Why does my smart ceiling light flicker when I turn it on?

Why does my smart ceiling light flicker when I turn it on?

Sometimes it may happen that your Smart ceiling light or fan (Tibet, Himalaya, Nepal, Alisio XL) starts to flicker after turning it on from the wall. This flickering indicates that the ceiling light has entered pairing mode.

This is the method to pair the ceiling light with the Tuya system so that voice recognition works with Alexa or Google Home. To put these ceiling lights in search mode, you need to perform a sequence of turning on and off: 3 on and 2 off. If done within the times we will indicate, the ceiling light will begin to flicker.

ON ——< 5 sec———- OFF ——–∞ ——– ON ——–< 5 sec——– OFF ———-∞ —— ON ————- (FLICKER)

Why does the ceiling light sometimes flicker without having done the sequence? This occurs because sometimes when we turn on that ceiling light and turn it off in less than 5 seconds, for example if we accidentally enter a room or regret turning on the light. If this is repeated twice, even if not close in time, the next time we turn on the ceiling light, it will flicker. The ceiling light needs two ON-OFFs of less than 5 seconds and another ON. But they do not have to be consecutive as there is no minimum time between OFF and ON, it is an infinite time, they can stop for hours, a day or however long. The ceiling light has a counter and flickers after two consecutive ON-OFFs of less than 5 seconds. The counter will reset if you do an ON-OFF of more than 5 seconds, and the sequence will have to start again. For this reason, it is not common for an involuntary flicker to occur, but it can happen, it is not a fault, it is simply that you have inadvertently performed the sequence.

Is there a solution? The solutions are to try using the remote, the App, or voice command for turning on and off. If you usually use the wall switch, try not to turn on and off for less than 5 seconds because if you do two in a row, it will start pairing.

As we said, it's quite a coincidence to do them, but it can happen. If flickering starts, cut the power from the switch and the flickering will stop.
